Blue Sand and Other Fun

I went to Walmart this weekend to find sand for our sensory table and they only had colored sand which I thought was AWESOME! I mean how cool is blue sand...so much cooler than brown or white. So they've been playing in that this week. They also have orange there which I thought was cool too. Maybe next time! :)

I was impressed as I watched these kids seperating out the mini motors by color and then counting them out loud and sharing with each other the number they had in their piles. Who says kids can't learn while they play?!! :) By the way, I had nothing to do with this, I just happened to catch them practicing their math skills all on their own. :)

It Seemed Like Summer

The kids had so much fun today during our outside playtime. The bikes were out and there were bubbles and sidewalk chalk. Here's a few fun photos...

Earth Day

This week we're talking about Earth Day. I'm so glad we had a nice day today so we could get outside and sitting under the trees and just enjoy the earth. Most of all we've talked about recycling. It's great to start teaching kids at an early age how important that is. If you recycle at home, let them help! Then hopefully when they grow up, recycling will be a natural part of their life whether it is required of them or not.

Below is the kids drawing their "trees" after we read a book about trees and looked at the trees outside.

After they made their trees, the kids ran around and played games and laughed and had fun. Here's a few pictures of that...

Field Trip Reminder

Just a quick reminder to keep it in the front of your minds...

Our next field trip is on May 15th. We are going to the Portland Children's Museum. We do need one parent to attend with every child. We will meet at the museum at 8:55 am that morning. Cost is $4 per person.

Let me know if you have any questions! :)

Other Friday Fun

We made "dirt cups" - pudding with oreo cookie topping and a gummy worm.

And we made "tie-dyed" Easter Eggs...

Hangin' With the Easter Bunny

The kids loved hanging out with the Easter bunny. Some of them spent more time hugging him then hunting eggs! :)

Easter Egg Hunt

Well my photos turned out a bit blurry for the hunt since it was raining and I was snapping fast to catch them in action. Hopefully they at least show you the fun they had though! :)

Outside Silliness

Some of the kids said their favorite thing about Spring was being silly. Well they proved that today in their outside play! :)

"Look at me, I'm stretching!" - she said

Fun Fun Fun in the Star Class

The kids have been getting along so well and having so much fun playing together! Over Spring Break I bought us some fun new things that the kids have been really enjoying. One of those is
a Disney dance CD. It has songs like Twist and Shout/the Bunny Hop/the Limbo/etc... It always gets the kids dancing when I turn it on! Keep in mind that I didn't tell them to hold hands and dance, they just did it on their own. :)

We've had this mirror since the beginning of the year and they usually don't pay much attention to it. But today they were laughing and trying to fit all their faces in it.

We planted a green bean plant just before leaving for Spring Break and it has already been growing!

We introduced a fun new way of painting. They used these plastic droppers to squeeze paint all over their pictures. They turned out really nice but WOW what a mess! :)
